'Twas the Night Before Thursday...

'Twas the night before Thursday and all through the house,
not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The laundry was folded and in the basket it lay,
in hopes that Daddy would soon put it away.
Daddy was meeting with a group of ol' boys,
while I was at home picking up toys.

Brinley was nestled all snug in my lap,
and was just settling down for a long night's nap.
When I lay her to nurse there arose such a clatter,
I didn't know what could be the matter.
When what my wondering eyes did meet,
but a baby who apparently didn't want to eat.

She was screaming and wriggling, not wanting to nurse,
and I think if she could, she would have cursed!
So Brinley I gently in my arms did rock,
and lay her to sleep while I was still in shock.
I though to myself "What could be going on?"
"Why is my baby suddenly withdrawn?"

"She's tired! She's restless! This is quite creepy!"
"She's grumpy! She's angry! She must just be sleepy!"
But the very next day she continued refusing,
and I really believed my heart she was bruising.
So now, six days later, I've come to the conclusion:
My plans (all plans!) are just an illusion.

My Recent Project

Ever since we have moved into our house I have always been very nervous about decorating. The problem is that I don't have a particular style. I am pretty eclectic in my taste. I don't think being as CHEAP as I am helps at all, either. So I have been trying different cheap ideas on how to decorate my living room wall for quite some time. I have tried antique frames, a large mirror, etc. None have been very good attempts because I have become preoccupied with other tasks and have forgotten about the wall. For some reason the laundry has to be done before I can sit and stare at the wall wondering what to do with it! I have been looking all over Kearney for some sort of inspiration. I was walking through the thrift store the other day and found the inspiration I have been looking for! Here it is....

I know... right?? TOTALLY INSPIRING!!

Ok, ok. So it's hideous! But I thought it had some potential. So I started to get to work..

I took the candlesticks off of the sconce

Not sure what I'll make with these, but they could be cute!

I took the clock face off of the clock

And I gave them all a bath

Then I spray painted them all black (I took pictures of this but they got deleted somehow). After they were all spray painted, I added a monogram to the center of the old clock and then spray painted some old frames black to match. Then I started hanging. I have just begun with the picture frames- I plan on adding MANY more to the wall but I like the way it is starting to look:

You Can Call Her Bubba...

Brinley has had it pretty rough recently (for a spoiled rotten little baby). Not only has she come down with a cold, but she has also been teething again. I was so excited to see a top tooth start to come through. Recently I have not been quite as excited since she only has one of her top teeth. She looks so dorky with just one top tooth! Check it out- our beautiful little snaggletooth:

ps- Just got back from Brinley's 9 month (I know!! 9 months!!) check up. She's 28 inches tall (65%), she weighs 18lbs 10 oz (50%), and her head is 44.5 cm in circumference (65%). She's getting so BIG!
