Parade Time!

Daddy has recently started a new job (Asst. Store Manager at Tractor Supply Company)and has a "rotating" schedule. This means he could be working shifts that range from 730-330, 10-630, 1200-830, etc. So on the days that he goes into work late, we have tried to have "Family Fun Time". We had had picnic lunches, trips to the park, and many other things. This past Saturday it was a trip downtown to watch the parade. Here are a few shots from the day:
Peek-A-Boo

Titus slept through the parade...
marching bands, canons and all

I couldn't get a good focus on this since it was
so dark inside but this is Daddy and Brinley
watching a nature film.
Please note: Baby Sissy, Baby Bella, and Baby Bailey are all present.

Oh Daddy...

We went on a picnic this morning at the park. It was Brinley and Titus' first picnic. Did I remember my camera? No. So instead of picnic photos, how about some "Daddy so funny" pictures? Ok!

(please excuse picture quality-- just trying to capture the moment leads to blur, noise, and downright terrible photos)
"Where Daddy go?"
"AAAHHHHH!!!"
"You better run, Jack!"
Brinley LOVES when Daddy reads to her

:-)

We love Daddy!

A Corny Post

I'm not sure if it is nesting or something else but I have the urge to get all the "I-Have-Been-Meaning-To-Post-That" blog posts up. So here is one from a while ago.

We have some friends, Dan and Susie, who grow sweet corn at their house. We always have a freezer full of corn because of their generosity. This year was no different from the past except the corn came with the husks on.
Brinley woke up and saw the corn in the boxes and said
"Look at all the pickles, Mommy!"
(She had never seen corn with the husk on!)
I had never done the whole "freezing corn" thing before so after some google-power, we got to work. Here's what we did:

Step 1: Shuck the corn.
(When I shucked the first ear, Brinley said, with GREAT enthusiasm,
"THERE'S CORN IN THERE!")

Step 2: Take out the trash as it fills with husks
Step 3: Find crazy little baby corns and photograph them.

Step 4: Boil the Water
Step 5: Boil the corn for about 2 minutes.

Isn't it beautiful?

Step 6: Cut the corn off of the cob
Step 7: Scoop the corn into freezer bags for freezing.

Step 8: Get your child out of the crate
when she gets stuck

And enjoy....

"Dat's a lot of corn, Mommy!"
