Fireflies

Summer is the time of late nights, fishing trips, fires, camping, friends, parks, festivals, and... of course.... FIREFLIES!
Brinley had her first encounter with fireflies the other day. She thought they were SO COOL. She said "they are gonna light up so that they can find their friend. They like to light up to find a friend. Maybe their friends will light up too!". I just love the beauty of childhood.

We caught THREE fireflies

"DAAAAAADDDDYYYY.... look what I caught!"

Granny and Papa Visit

Yesterday we had a visit from Granny and Papa (my paternal grandparents). Every year they travel up to Minnesota to our family cabin for the summer. They made a stop at our house for supper and had lots of fun playing with the kiddos.
Playing on Granny's lap

Spoiled with love...

Titus checked out everyone's shoes

HI EVERYONE!!!

"Up A Creek" Farm

The middle of last month we had the wonderful treat of visiting a FARM. The McKenzie family invited us out to their new farm where they are living a pretty sustainable life. It was fun to see all of the ways they are choosing to re-purpose and re-use so many things that would otherwise end up in a dump. The animals were all healthy-looking and free to roam in big fenced-in yards or in no fences at all. They have a beautiful property with an orchard, berry bushes, lots of land, and beautiful views of those not-so-sustainable farms. :-D
Check it out:

It was a fun day with a delicious home-made meal from Wendy. Thanks so much for letting us come out, guys!! Maybe next time we can check out your cellar! :-D

Oh... check these out while you're at it:
He ate some black beans and got a goatee just like Daddy!

I love those buck teeth!

My dirty-faced girl at lunch time

Thanks for checking in on us!

ps- Titus has now taken EIGHT steps at a time. :-) I was cooking supper one night and turned around to check on the kids only to see Titus walking towards Brinley. CRAZY!!
