Nanny and Grandpa's Ocotober Visit (Part One)

Back in October we had some pretty special visitors-- Nanny and Grandpa! It has been a VERY long time since they have been to our house and it was their first time meeting our little Titus. Since I have quite a few things to blog about and I'm not feeling particularly willing to sit in front of the computer while my suitcases are needing unpacked from our trip to St. Louis I will take you on a photographic journey of the first part of their trip...

How many men does it take to put
a little girl in a swing?

He loves me

Brinley got a present from her Aunt Jenny, Uncle Ben, and Brooke and Gwen. She LOVED IT! It was a "make your own clock" craft!

She was very into her painting!

This was only the beginning of their visit. But it was SO much fun to have them. More to come soon!

Wondering?

Anyone wondering why I haven't posted anything in a while? Here's a hint:

You know you have put off folding laundry too long when your daughter says "I'm climbing the laundry pile."

... especially if she gets to the top and says
"I'm WAY UP HIGH MOMMY!"

The decent from Mt. Procrastination

I now have a better understanding of the saying:

"Happiness is an empty laundry basket"
..... well... almost empty:

Pumpkin Carving

As you saw last year, our family has an Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest. This year Roger's parents are in town and so Roger's dad Roger (confusing, I know!) joined in on the fun. Nanny was not interested in joining the contest so we made her bake rolls for us in lieu of her entry. DELISH!!
I would have to say that this year was the stiffest competition. The entries were intense. Check it out:

Brinley's entry was the most colorful

Roger for some help with his pumpkin

The men got serious

Apparently the paint was rather delicious

Nanny was the babysitter for the evening. She hated it. Can't you tell?

Grandpa and Daddy used the Dremmel (cheaters)

Daddy was rather quiet during carving... he was getting nervous!

Clean-up time!

And now to the final products...
Nanny's Entry -- delicious rolls!
Brinley's Entry

Daddy and Grandpa's Entries
(notice the creepy tree shadow behind Grandpa's.... spooky touch!)

Mommy's Entry

At the end, we were all supposed to write down TWO entries that we voted for in order to get a winner. I was going to tally up the entries (and cheat if I had to) and declare a winner. This was Roger's vote:

Love my man!

We ended up declaring it a five-way tie (as always).                                                                                                                         ... although mommy's was the best :-)

Halloween!!

I don't really know what to say on this post. Let's pretend that I wrote something very witty and charming about Brinley's first time really Trick-Or-Treating. And now you're reading something sentimental and warm about our first "family theme" costumes. Thanks for pretending with me.

Now on with the photos-  Yabba Dabba Doooooooooo!!!

Trick-or-Treating
(Fred Flintstone was working)
With our "Uncle Todd"

The after-effect of Pebbles hair....

That was our Halloween-- it was super fun watching Brinley run all around the mall grabbing candy left and right and then seeing friends in their costumes. Thanks for checking in - hope your Halloween was spooktacular! We'll be posting pumpkin carving and other "Fall Fun" later...

ps- I am fully aware of the fact that Pebbles was a Flintstone and that Bam Bam was the adopted son of the Rubbles-- WORK WITH ME!  We were nice enough to babysit for the Barney and Betty on Halloween, ok?
