Our Friends Came to Visit!

This morning we had Josie, Caleb, and Carly over to our house. We had so much fun with them! Brinley LOVES to play with her friends.
When they got to our house, Mommy had some dishes and laundry to do. Then we all went to the park (Mommy forgot her camera... ugh!) When we came home, we ate some lunch...

THIS is how a kid says "Thank You" for lunch!

 We played some games...

The a quick trip to Target and then took them back to their (VERY CLEAN) house.

Thanks for coming over today, friends! We love you!

ps- You might see these pictures and read what we did and think these are just some ordinary kids. That's where you are wrong. Dead wrong. These are some fun, special, smart, entertaining, inspiring friends of ours. They are so very special to us for so many different reasons. Two of the main reasons are 1) They are FUNNY! 2) They are inspiring/encouraging.
Here are some fun quotes from the day to show you how funny they can be:
When asked if she or her siblings likes the food I am preparing, Carly replies-
"We just like delicious."

After tasting his first kiwi, Caleb decided they tasted like strawberries. He then looked into the fruit bowl with strawberries and kiwi and said
"It's like a bowl of two strawberries but one looks more like watermelon."

These are some encouraging things I overheard throughout the day-
When playing the Wii, Caleb says
"We make a good team, Jos."

While driving to Target, Josie spots a sign that says "Nothing lasts forever", Caleb replies-
"Except Jesus."

What great kids. Justin and Julie... keep up the good work. You have wonderful children.

Five Reasons We Love Daddy!

There are so many reasons that we love the man of our house. So many that a comprehensive list is impossible. So, instead, we will just list a few. These are in no particular order, just SOME of the reasons....

Why We Love Daddy:

1) He loves to spend time with us.

2) He spoils us.
Flowers "Just Because"

I told him I wanted a frog so he brought me four from work! :-D

3) He loves the Lord.

4) He is handsome, heLLLooOOoOOO!

5) He does WHATEVER it takes to care for us.

He's the man of our house. He's the leader of our family. He's the reason we love to come home. He's the fun in our day. He's the reason for the smiles on our faces. He's fun. He's loving. He's cute. He's hard-working. He's silly. He's charming. He's sexy. He's romantic. He's goofy. He's the best. We love you, Daddy!

Our (very relaxed) Easter Sunday

Normally our Easter Sunday is filled with church breakfasts, egg hunts, traveling to see family members, big suppers, playing cards, late nights, etc. This year we took it easy. We slept in and ate breakfast at home. We went to church and then went out to lunch with Grandma Jean and Grandpa Jiggs. We then came home, watched a movie and cleaned the house. It was, actually, quite nice. So here are some photos from the day--
The (daily) swinging

Unfortunately this is the only photo
I have of her in her Easter dress :-(

Look what Brinley learned to do!

Daddy + Mommy = Love.
Happy Easter to all!

Brinley's First -- Dyeing Eggs

I realize we might be a little later than most (as usual) but we decided to dye our Easter eggs today! I had purchased an egg-dyeing kit that contained little cups to use... perfect, right? Uhhh... yea... right up until the very first one I put water into started leaking ALL OVER the table. Sweet....
So we improvised (in a very ghetto-looking way). Here are the photos from the day--

"Coloring" eggs...

"Beard?"

Kissin' break!

That's daddy's girl... she loves to CRUSH things.

The end result. Not our best but our most fun!

Then Brinley got to do what she LOVES to do the most... CHOW DOWN!!!!

Look familiar?

Happy Easter to all!
Thank you, Lord, for Easter!

Too Soon For Chores... No WAY!

I, like every other mom, have plenty of chores to get done everyday. Between laundry and dishes I could be busy all day so I have brought Brinley on board. She is now in charge of a few things...
(Sorry about the sideways videos... one day I will remember to film in the right direction!)

Mopping

Making the grocery list

Clipping ("Nipping") her own nails

Clipping the dog's nails

and, finally, taking out the trash.

What a trooper!

{Quick Update}   Since Brinley has taken on these chores I have noticed that the floors really aren't very clean, all we buy at the grocery store is bananas and broccoli, she only has two toes left, she somehow took the robotic dog apart, and the trash bags are really piling up in the hallway.... maybe I should re-think this plan!

Swinging

Ever since Grandma Cindy bought Brinley her first swing for her swing set, Brinley has been OBSESSED! I have had to leave the door closed (even on these nice spring days) because if she sees the swing she will want to swing and when you have laundry piled high, swinging is not what needs to be done. Most days that we can, we take her out to swing, though, because the days of our sweet little girl wanting us to push her in her swing are short. Soon she'll be asking us to give her the keys... yikes!
Recently the weather hasn't been very conducive to swinging. What do we do on those days? Daddy came up with a solution- The Blanket Wrapping Technique:

That's our daughter.... crazy and cute!

WOTYC -- Totally Team Thursday

Conversation with my dad today went as follows:

Me: Today is Totally Team Thursday and Brinley has NO Colorado Avalanche stuff to wear! Pray that there are some Avs jerseys at Goodwill or she will have to represent the Huskers...
Dad: I will overnight one just so she doens't have to wear Husker stuff
Me: Haha. Has to wear it in three hours.
Dad: The Avs t-shirt I got her doesn't fit anymore?
Me: Nope. It's three mon. She's in eighteen to twenty-four.
Dad: It stretches, right?

Before you get all comment crazy, I am NOT a Huskers-hater. But Totally Team Thursday was about wearing your FAVORITE team stuff. The Avalanche is our FAVORITE team, so we have to represent it before the Huskers (not sure I've actually ever seen a Huskers game). So I got to work... no time to lose! This is what I came up with. Yes, it looks home-made but it was good enough for one day. I will post a picture tomorrow of her wearing it- didn't get that done today.

Hope we made you proud Grandpa!
