I'm not sure if it is nesting or something else but I have the urge to get all the "I-Have-Been-Meaning-To-Post-That" blog posts up. So here is one from a while ago.
We have some friends, Dan and Susie, who grow sweet corn at their house. We always have a freezer full of corn because of their generosity. This year was no different from the past except the corn came with the husks on.
Brinley woke up and saw the corn in the boxes and said
"Look at all the pickles, Mommy!"
(She had never seen corn with the husk on!) |
I had never done the whole "freezing corn" thing before so after some google-power, we got to work. Here's what we did:
Step 1: Shuck the corn.
(When I shucked the first ear, Brinley said, with GREAT enthusiasm,
"THERE'S CORN IN THERE!") |
Step 2: Take out the trash as it fills with husks |
Step 3: Find crazy little baby corns and photograph them. |
Step 4: Boil the Water |
Step 5: Boil the corn for about 2 minutes. |
Isn't it beautiful? |
Step 6: Cut the corn off of the cob |
Step 7: Scoop the corn into freezer bags for freezing. |
Step 8: Get your child out of the crate
when she gets stuck |
And enjoy.... |
"Dat's a lot of corn, Mommy!" |
